After John H. Baker & wife transferred ownership of the forge tract to Charles Quirey and James E. Tyler in 1845, Quirey and Tyler sold about 3 acres of it that adjoined Shepherdsville on the west and next to the graveyard to George W. Miles. Miles sold the acre closest to town to John B. Shepherd in 1849. Following Shepherd's death, the tract was deeded by his heirs, via a court suit, to Lorenzo Hogland. Hogland then sold the acre to Henry J. Craycroft in December 1852. Craycroft then sold it to Christopher O'Brian in November 1853. O'Brian's heirs sold "lots" to E. H. McCormick in 1864 as shown below. McCormick then sold 4 acres he had obtained from the O'Brians to Luellen Holsclaw in 1867.

This indenture made an entered into the 20th day of April 1864 between Anne O'Bryant, John O'Bryant, Nancy O'Bryant, Mary O'Bryant, Rebecca O'Bryant, Sarah O'Bryant and Mariah O'Bryant heirs of C. O'Bryant dec'd by C. R. Samuels, commissioner of the first part and Edwin H. McCormick of the second part.
Witnesseth whereas there was on the 19th day of September 1855 a suit filed in the Bullitt Circuit Court in the name of C. O'Bryant's administrator vs C. O'Bryant's heirs and creditors for the sale of the lots in the petition and pleadings mentioned, and on the 22nd day of April 1863 the said Court did by its decree order the sale of said lot and appointed the said Charles R. Samuels commissioner to make said sale, and said commissioner did on the 20th day of July 1863, being a County Court day, after advertising according to the directions of said decree sell the same at the courthouse door in Shepherdsville, and the said Edwin H. McCormick being in the highest and best bidder became the purchaser thereof at the sum of $326 which was paid in cash, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and on the __ day of April 1864 the said Charles B. Samuels was appointed a commissioner for and on behalf of the parties of the first part to convey to the party of the second part the lots in the petition mentioned. Now I Charles B. Samuels, commissioner as aforesaid, have this day granted, bargained and sold to the said E. H. McCormick and his heirs and assigns forever the lots aforesaid as fully as by law this commissioner can warrant without incurring any individual responsibility. State of Kentucky, Bullitt circuit, Sct. I Charles R. Samuels, clerk of the circuit court for the circuit aforesaid, do certify that the foregoing deed was produced in court and acknowledged by C. R. Samuels, commissioner for the parties of the first part, to be his act and deed which is certified to the clerk of the Bullitt County Court for record this 20th day of April 1864. (signed) C. R. Samuels, clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid, do certify that on this day the foregoing deed was produced to me in my office for record and being duly authenticated and stamped as required by Act of Congress the same is truly recorded together with the certificate thereon endorsed and this certificate in my office this seventh day of June 1864.
