After John H. Baker & wife transferred ownership of the forge tract to Charles Quirey and James E. Tyler in 1845, Quirey and Tyler sold about 3 acres of it that adjoined Shepherdsville on the west and next to the graveyard to George W. Miles. Miles sold the acre closest to town to John B. Shepherd in 1849. Following Shepherd's death, the tract was deeded by his heirs, via a court suit, to Lorenzo Hogland. Hogland then sold the acre to Henry J. Craycroft in December 1852. Craycroft then sold it to Christopher O'Brian in November 1853. O'Brian's heirs sold "lots" to E. H. McCormick. McCormick then sold 4 acres he had obtained from the O'Brians to Luellen Holsclaw in 1867, as shown below. It is clear that these 4 acres included the original single acre and house.

This indenture made and entered into this 1st day of February 1867 by and between E. H. McCormick and Ann McCormick his wife of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the first part and Luellen Holsclaw of the county and state aforesaid of the second part.
Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of $550 for which amount a note has this day been executed by the said party of the second part with A. H. Field his surety payable on the 1st day of May 1867, and a lien retained to secure its payment, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part the following described premises, to wit: a house and four, more or less, acres of ground on Salt River adjoining the town of Shepherdsville, and being the same bought by the said party of the first part under decree of the Bullitt Circuit Court in the suit of C. O'Brian's administrator vs C. O'Brian's heirs and creditors, and conveyed to said party of the first part by C. R. Samuels, commissioner, reference to said deed of record in the Bullitt County Court office Deed Book P, pages 373 & 374 for more particular description.
To have and to hold the before described premises unto her the said party of the second part, and to her heirs or assigns forever by this deed of fee simple with general warranty.
