On 3 Aug 1840 Rufus K. Summers sold 5 Shepherdsville lots and a 4 acre tract adjoining the town to Jacob Bowman Jr. He had obtained Lot #1 at a tax auction, and sold it to Bowman as a quit claim without a title warranty. The other 4 lots (81, 82, 83 and 84) had been purchased by Summers from the town trustees in 1828. Bowman sold Lot #1 to Frederick Travis in 1847. Travis would sell Lot #1 to Francis Maraman in 1849, as shown below. Maraman would then sell the house and lot to his sister-in-law Susan Maraman and her children in 1852.

This indenture made this __ day of October 1849 between Frederick Travis, and Harriet his wife of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the one part and Francis Maraman of the same place of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Travis for and in consideration of the sum of $150 to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, they said Frederick Travis and wife have bargained and sold and conveyed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto him the said Francis Maraman and to his heirs and assigns forever the following lot of land in the new plan of the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, being lot No. one in said plan and town, situate in the northwest corner of said town with the appurtenances to the same lot belonging or in any wise appertaining.
To have and to hold the said lot No. 1 and its appurtenances unto him the said Francis Maraman and to his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Travis covenants and agrees to and with the said Francis Maraman that he said Travis will and his heirs, executors and administrators shall warrant and forever defend the said lot No. 1 and appurtenances unto him the said Francis Maraman, and to his heirs and assigns against the claims of all persons whatsoever by this his deed in fee simple with general warranty.
