On 3 Aug 1840 Rufus K. Summers sold 5 Shepherdsville lots and a 4 acre tract adjoining the town to Jacob Bowman Jr. He had obtained Lot #1 at a tax auction, and sold it to Bowman as a quit claim without a title warranty. The other 4 lots (81, 82, 83 and 84) had been purchased by Summers from the town trustees in 1828.

This indenture made and entered into the third day of August 1840 between Rufus K. Summers, and Sedna Ann his wife of the first part and Jacob Bowman Jr. (assignee of Frederick Travis) of the second part, all of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky.
Witnesseth that the said R. K. Summers and wife of the first named party for and in consideration of the sum of $500 to them in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, do bargain and sell to the said Jacob Bowman Jr. one lot of land adjoining the town of Shepherdsville containing about 4 acres, more or less, the same purchased by R. K. Summers of Benjamin Summers, see Deed Book F, page 355 of record in the Bullitt County Court office.
Also, lots numbers 81, 82, 83 and 84 adjoining the above named 4 acre lot and in the town of Shepherdsville new plan numbers as above.
Also lot number one in new plan of said town containing 1/2 acre, more or less, for the sum of $30 in hand paid, the receipt of which is also acknowledged.
And that the said R. K. Summers and wife do warrant and defend the title to the said lots or parcels of land to the said Bowman, his heirs and against the claims of themselves and all other persons whatever; except the title of lot number one which it is expressly understood they make only a title of quit claim and do not warrant the same. The price of lot number one is five dollars. In testimony hereof subscribe their hands and affix their seals the day and date above named.
