John Collins bought this lot in 1797, and it came into the possession of Harmon Greathouse at Collins' death. Greathouse then sold it to Henry Jones who sold a portion of it to John M. Jones who then sold it to Frederic Travis. Travis would sell the ground to Rodolphus Bukey on 22 Dec 1829. Bukey sold the ground to Henry C. M. Cartmell on 17 Oct 1836. Following Cartmell's death, his administrators sold the lot to Thomas Joyce on 15 Mar 1838. Thomas Joyce then sold the lot to Robert Ball in 1840, as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into the 22nd day of June 1840 between Thomas Joyce of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and Robert Ball of the county of Green and state aforesaid of the second part.
Witness that the said Joyce for and in consideration of the sum of $300 in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold unto the said Ball all that tract of land or lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville, known on the plan of said town by No. 58, and is only part of said a lot, and is bounded as follows, to wit.
Beginning at the west corner of the brick corner house on Water Street, now owned by Matthew Wilson, or John H. Baker, thence with Water Street to the middle partition wall between the lot conveyed and the house occupied by Joseph W. Caldwell, thence with the line northwestwardly of the last two lots the original course of the lots to the back line thereof on the alley, thence with alley to the corner on the alley eastwardly, thence with the alley to the brick line of said M. Wilson (or John H. Baker's) lot, thence with M. Wilson's (J. H. Baker's) line to the beginning.
To have and to hold said lot and house and all the appurtenances there unto belonging or any wise appertaining, and the said Joyce, for himself, his heirs does and will forever warrant and defend the title of said lot and house &c against the claim of all, and every person claiming or to claim the same in any manner whatsoever to the said Ball. In witness whereof the said Thomas Joyce together with Sarah Joyce, his wife who hereby relinquishes her right of dower in and to the land &c hereby conveyed, have hereto set their hands and affixed their seals this day and date first above written.
