Henry C Jones to John M. Jones - Part of Shepherdsville Lot 58

John Collins bought this lot in 1797, and it came into the possession of Harmon Greathouse at Collins' death. Greathouse then sold it to Henry Jones who sold a portion of it to John M. Jones as shown below, who then sold it to Frederick Travis.


Bullitt County Deed Book E, Pages 110-112

This indenture made and entered into this 15th day of April in the year of our Lord 1823 between Henry C. Jones and Eleanor, his wife, of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and John M. Jones of the same county and state of the other part.

Witness that for an in consideration of the sum of one dollar by the said John M. Jones, to the said Henry in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, they have given, granted, bargained, and sold unto the said John M. Jones, his heirs &c, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said John M. Jones the following described lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville, to-wit.

So much of lot No. 58 in the new plan of said town as will be contained in the lines hereafter mentioned; beginning at the west corner of 30 feet front of ground sold out of said lot by said Henry Jones to Weir Tilford & Co. running a westwardly course binding on the street fronting the river to the middle partition or wall dending the brick tenements built on said lot by said Jones, running thence upon a straight line to the back part or line of said lot running thence eastwardly with the line of said lots as per plan to the corner from thence to Tilford's & Co.'s back line, and with said Tilford & Co.'s line to the beginning.

To have, and to hold the said lot as above described to him, the said John M. Jones, his heirs &c forever, and the said Charles Jones and Henry C. Jones, and Eleanor his wife for themselves, their heirs, executors &c do hereby covenant and agreed to and with the said John M. Jones, his heirs that they will forever warrant and defend the aforesaid lot of ground with all and singular the premises thereunto belonging against them, their heirs &c, all and every person or persons claiming by, through, from or under them or any other person whatsoever. In testimony whereof they have hereunto subscribed their names, and affixed their seals the day and date above written.
