Francis Blundell to James Marquis - Part of Lot 25 (New Plan)

The said part containing 40 feet in front and 99 feet 5 inches back including a well on said lot. This was the northernmost 40 feet of lot 25. On 17 Mar 1804, Marquis sold this tract to Andrew Graham.

This indenture made on this 27th day of August in the year of Christ 1799 between Robert Matthews, Deputy Sheriff for Joseph Sanders, Sheriff of Bullitt County & Francis Blundell and Catherine his wife of Bullitt County of the one part, and James Marquis of said county of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Robert Matthews did on the 27th day of Jule in the year 1798, by virtue of his said office and by reason of several executions issued against the estate of said Francis Blundell, that is to say one execution from Bullitt Quarter Session Court in favor of William Pope, another from said court in favor of Andrew Hynes & Co., and another by Moses Moore, a justice of the peace for said county in favor of Daniel Donaldson, expose to sale a part of a lot of ground in Shepherdsville known in the plan of said town by 20, then the property of said Francis and previously taken by the said Matthews to satisfy the aforesaid executions, at which said date the said James Marquis became the purchaser according to law. Now the said Robert Matthews in consideration thereof, and the said Francis and Catherine his wife in consideration thereof and more especially in consideration of the sum of one dollar current money of the United States to them the said Francis and Catherine his wife in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents they the said Robert Matthews, Francis Blundell and Catherine his wife do give, grant, bargain and sell, alien and confirm, transfer and set over unto the said James Marquis and his heirs forever the aforesaid part of a lot in the town of Shepherdsville known in said town plan and plat by number 20, the said part being and containing and extending forty feet in front and 99'5" back including a well on said lot, with all and singular the houses, outhouses, stables and all other appurtenances, rights and members of the same belonging or in an wise appertaining.

To have and to hold the said lot of ground so as aforesaid extending with its appurtenances unto the said James Marquis and his heirs forever. And the said Robert and Catherine his wife for themselves and their heirs and the heirs of each and either of them, the lot or parcel of ground aforesaid with itsappurtenances against the claim of them the said Robert, Francis and Catherine his wife and of each and either of them, and the claim of each and either of their heirs and against the claim or claims of all other persons shall and will warrant and forever defend.

In testimony whereof the said Robert, Francis and Catherine his wife have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals on the da and year first in the indenture mentioned.
