On 2 Nov 1827, Matthew Wilson sold lots 5 and 6 to Brooky Barker. Barker sold both lots to William Standiford on 21 Jan 1833. Standiford the two lots to William Hardiman on 8 Sep 1838. He later sold the two lots to the firm of W. W. Swearingen & W. P. Simmons in 1839, as shown below. Note that this deed changes his surname from Hardiman to Hardman.
At some point prior to October 1874 (but likely earlier) Swearingen and Simmons gave a bond to R. J. Meyler for the sale of these two lots. However, no deed was ever made to Meyler. Then Meyler sold the 2 lots to the trustees of the Methodist Church parsonage on 28 Oct 1889, as shown below. Then on 10 Mar 1891, the trustees sold the lots to Dr. John A. Hoffman.

This deed made and entered into this the 28th day of October 1889 by in between R. J. Meyler and Josie B. Meyler, his wife of Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky, party of the first part, and D. M. Bates, S. W. Caldwell, and T. C. Chappell, trustees of the parsonage property of the Shepherdsville circuit of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of Bullitt County, Kentucky, and their successors in office forever, party of the second part.
Witnesseth that the first party for and in consideration of the sum of $75 cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby, acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold, and hereby sell, convey and deliver to the said D. M. Bates, S. W. Caldwell, and T. C. Chappell, trustees as aforesaid, and their successors and assignees forever, the following described real estate, situated in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky; being lots Nos. 5 & 6 of said town beginning at a stake where Plumb Street crosses Third Street, running south with Plumb Steet to an alley running between the Old Joyce "Mill Lot" and the lots herein conveyed, thence running east with said alley to School Alley, thence north with School Alley to Third Street, thence west with Third Street to the point of beginning; being the same lots bought by the first party more than 15 years ago by bond for title given by W. P. Simmons and W. W. Swearingen but no deed ever made, and the lot has been held under said bond and adversely to all the world by the first party for more than 15 years before the making of this deed.
To have, and to hold said property to the party of the second part in trust that said premises shall be held, kept and maintained and disposed of as a place of residence for the use and occupation of the preachers of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, who made from time to time be appointed in said place, subject to the usage and discipline of said Church, as from time to time authorized and declared by the General Conference of said church and by the Annual Conference within whose bounds said premises are situate. The party of the first part hereby agrees to and with the second party to warrant and forever defend the title to the property herein conveyed against the claims of all persons whomsoever with covenant of general warranty. Witness the hands of the grantors the day and year first herein written. December 13, 1889.
