On 19 Jun 1866, Thomas Joyce sold his steam, saw and grist mill, and lots No. 21 and 22, to Alexander Longmuer and William N. White, keeping a lien on the property to insure they paid the necessary payments. When they failed to do so, he he sued and recovered his property. Then in 1872 Joyce was sued for debts owed, and these lots and mill were sold at auction by the sheriff and purchased by William W. Zazio. Zazio sold the lots to R. J. Meyler in 1876. At some point J. L. O'Brien became involved in these lots, for on 26 Oct 1880 he and the Meylers sold the lots to Margaret Givens with the payments going to Meyler, as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into the 26th day of October 1880 between John L. O'Brian, R. J. Meyler and Josie B. Meyler his wife of the first part and Margaret Givens of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky.
Witnesseth that the first parties in consideration of the sum of $325 which is secured in addition to a lien on the property herein conveyed by transfer of two certain notes on J. F. Mooney executed 19th of August 1880, payable to Margaret Givens, one for $133.33 and the other for the same amount, same date, payable to the same party, one due in two and one in three years from their date bearing 6% from their date and executed for interest in the dower land of Hannah Mooney, named in deed of Givens and wife to J. F. Mooney, recorded in Deed Book W, page 562, do sell, convey and deliver unto the second party with covenant of general warranty the following property, to wit.
Two certain lots situated, lying and being in Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky opposite of the lot of M. A. McCormick, and being lots Nos. 21 and 22 in the town of Shepherdsville, and the same bought by Meyler of W. W. Zazio. It is understood that the lumber in the old mill belongs to Meyler and that the crib on said lot belongs to Meyler, and he has the right to remove the same from said a lot, but he may .. the same on said light this winter if he wishes to do so.
The balance of the price, to wit, $58.35 due and payable to Meyler in 12 months with 6% interest and $30 due Meyler also added to said some of $58.35 making $88.35 for which a note is executed and lein retained and given on said 1/2 of said lots, to wit, the northern half owned by Meyler to secure the same. And the first party covenants to warrant the title by general warranty unto the second parties against all claims.
