On 19 Jun 1866, Thomas Joyce sold his steam, saw and grist mill, and lots No. 21 and 22, to Alexander Longmuer and William N. White, keeping a lien on the property to insure they paid the necessary payments. When they failed to do so, he he sued and recovered his property. Then in 1872 Joyce was sued for debts owed, and these lots and mill were sold at auction by the sheriff and purchased by William W. Zazio as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into this 12th day of June 1872 between Wesley Phelps, late Sheriff of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the first part and William W. Zazio of same county and state of the second part.
Witnesseth whereas executions Nos. 541 & 554 duly issued from the office of the Bullitt Circuit Court, the first in name of J. W. Thompson and the other in the name of A. H. Field, both against Thomas Joyce; execution No. 541 for the sum of $63.15 and costs; execution No. 554 for $87.50 and costs; the two debts amounting to with costs the sum of $174.63 which executions were on the 27th day of November 1869 levied on lots Nos. 21 & 22 and the old flour mill and fixtures in the town of Shepherdsville belonging to Thomas Joyce, and on said day said Sheriff duly advertised the lots and mill for sale and afterwards on the 20th day of December 1869, S. A. McKay and E. H. McCormick, housekeepers, were selected and duly sworn by said Sheriff to appraise said property and appraised the same at $1000, and on the same day, being county court day, and Thomas Joyce having no personal property subject to execution, the Sheriff after having advertised the time and place and terms of sale as the law directs, did offer for sale the said property and A. H. Field being the highest and best bidder became the purchaser of said lots and mill and fixures at the price of $174.63, and said Field for a valuable consideration on the __ day of __ 187_ transferred his said bid to Charles Lee and said Lee the 21st of November 1872 by his written assignment transferred his bid and purchase to W. W. Zazio, and said Zazio having paid said debts of A. H. Field and J. W. Thompson together with interest at 10% and costs of said executions amounting to $191.26 on the 21st day of November 1870, and more than 12 months having expired after said sale and non redemption made thereof, and the said Zazio the purchaser and assignee requiring a deed thereof and having fully paid the purchase money, now the first party, the late Sheriff of Bullitt County who made said levy and sale hereby grants, bargains, sells, conveys and delivers unto the second party the following property, to-wit.
Lots Nos. 21 & 22 situated in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky lying on Second Street on which is located the old grist mill of Thomas Joyce together with said old mill and all the machinery belonging thereto and fixtures therein and thereon.
To have and to hold the said lots and mill and improvements thereon and the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the second party and to his heirs and assigns forever and the first party covenants to warrant the title to the property herein conveyed against all claims as fully as bylaw he is authorized to warrant, not incurring any individual liability on the warranty. The transfers herein recited are attached to the executions.
