This indenture made and entered into this 19th day of March 1821 between James J. Dozier and America his wife of Bullitt County of the one part and Joseph Hislop of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James & America have for the sum of $450 to them paid this day sold and do herein convey to the said Hislop and his heirs forever a certain lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville known by its number 31 in the new plan of the town, being the same lot purchased by said Dozier of E. Younger, together with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the said lot of ground with all its improvements and appendages to the said Hislop and his heirs forever, to his and their only proper use and behoof. And the said James and America for themselves and their heirs do warrant and forever defend the title of the said lot to the said Hislop and his heirs against the claims of all person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said James and America Dozier have hereto set their hands and affixed their seals the day before written. (signed) James J. Dozier, America Dozier

As clerk of Bullitt County Court, I do certify that on this day James J. Dozier & America his wife personally acknowledged the foregoing indenture of bargain and sale to Joseph Hislop to be their act and deed. And the said America, being separately examined private and apart from her husband, declared that she had signed the same and relinquished her right of dower of in and to the lot of ground therein conveyed freely and without any threat on this, any fear of gaining her husband's displeasure, and was willing the said indenture should be recorded. Whereupon I have truly recorded the said indenture together with this certificate in my office as the law requires. Given under my hand this 19th day of March 1821. (signed) James Halbert
