On 27 Jun 1797 the Shepherdsville Town Trustees sold two lots to James Simpson, one numbered 9 on the original town plat and 37 on the new plat, and the other numbered 6 on the original plat and 55 on the new plat. Simpson sold lot 37 to Edward Frye on 28 Dec 1801. He sold lot 55 to Thomas Sanders on 23 Mar 1801, as shown below. Then in a Circuit Court decree in a suit in which Thomas Allen sued Thomas Sanders, lot 55 was deeded to Allen on 9 May 1811.

This indenture made this 23rd day of March 1801 between James Simpson of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Thomas Sanders of the county of Bullitt and state aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said James Simpson for and in consideration of $40 to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Sanders, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, and the said Sanders forever acquit and discharge, have given, granted, sold and confirmed unto the said Thomas Sanders, and by these presents do give, grant, sell and confirm unto the aforesaid Thomas Sanders, his heirs, executors and administrators one lot or parcel of ground lying situate and being in the town of Shepherdsville and the county of Bullitt and known as follows by the name of number 6 Upon Water Street in plan of said town containing a 99'4" in front and 198'9" back.
To have and to hold the aforesaid lot and its appurtenances to the said Thomas Sanders, his heirs and executors and administrators forever to the only proper use, benefit and behoof of him said Thomas Sanders, his heirs, executors and administrators forever. And the said James Simpson for himself, his heirs and executives and administrators doth covenant and agree to and with the said Thomas Sanders his executors and administrators that he said James Simpson said a lot or parcel of ground aforesaid with all and singular its appurtenances to the said Thomas Sanders, his heirs, executors and administrators doth and will hereby forever warrant and defend by these presents. In testimony whereof the aforesaid James Simpson hath hereunto set his name and affixed his seal the day and year above written. (signed) James Simpson
