James & Elizabeth Simpson to Edward Frye - Lot 37

In this deed, Lot 9 (old plan) or 37 (new plan) was sold by the Simpsons to Edward Frye as shown below.

This indenture made this 28th of December in the year 1801 between James Simson and Elizabeth Simson his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and Edward Frye of the said County and state aforesaid of the other part.

Witness that the said James and Elizabeth Simson for and in consideration of the sum of 50 pounds current money of Kentucky to them in hand paid by said Frye, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, doth grant, bargain and sell, aliened, released, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Edward Frye and his heirs a certain lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville known in the plot of said town by lot number nine at the first sale of lots in said town, it lying and being on the second street from the river opposite the third lot back of the jail on the one and opposite to the large sink hole lot that lies on Water Street on the other end.

To have and to hold the above mentioned lot with singular all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Edward Frye and his heirs forever, and that we the said James and Elizabeth Simson will warrant and forever defend the said lot from all and every claim whatever; and that I Elizabeth Samson do relinquish all my right of dower and trust and benefit unto the said Frye and his heirs forever. And witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 28th of December 1801. (signed) James Simpson, Elizabeth [her x mark] Simpson. Bullitt County, Sct. I Thomas Speed, Clerk of the Monthly Court for Bullitt County do certify that on the 28th day of December 1801 this indenture was acknowledged before me by the within named James Simpson and Elizabeth Simpson his wife to be their act and deed, and that the said Elizabeth Simpson being examined privately and apart from her husband by me relinquished her right of dower to the within lot, and that the same is recorded in my office.
