On 27 Jun 1797 the Shepherdsville Town Trustees sold two lots to James Simpson, one numbered 9 on the original town plat and 37 on the new plat, and the other numbered 6 on the original plat and 55 on the new plat. The deed to these lots is transcribed below. Simpson sold lot 37 to Edward Frye on 28 Dec 1801. He sold lot 55 to Thomas Sanders on 23 Mar 1801.

This indenture made this 27th day of June 1797 between Nacy Brashear, Samuel Crow, Michael Troutman, Frederick Pennybaker, Benjamin Stansbury, Joseph Brooks and John Essary, trustees for the town of Shepherdsville of the one part and James Simpson of the said town of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said trustees in virtue of the power vested in them by an Act of the General Assembly passed the 11th day of December 1793 entitled "An Act for establishing a town on the land of Adam Shepherd in the county of Jefferson," and also for and in consideration of the sum of 12 pounds six shillings paid to the said Adam Shepherd agreeable to the direction of the said act have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said James Simpson two certain lots of ground in the said town known in the plan thereof by number six on Water Street and number nine fronting 2nd Street and Plumb Street.
To have and to hold the said lots together with all and every of the appurtenances thereon and thereunto the belonging to the said James Simpson, his heirs and assigns forever, subject nevertheless to the conditions expressed in the aforesaid Act of the General Assembly. And the said trustees unto the said James Simpson, his heirs and assigns they hereby warrant and forever defend the aforesaid lots of land from the claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever, and further the trustees aforesaid do hereby promise and agree to and with the said James Simpson that they will at any time hereafter at the cost and charges in the law of him the said James Simpson make do suffer or cause to be made done and suffered any further deed or deeds or other writing which he or his council learned in the law may advise, devise or require for the better securing the aforesaid bargained and sold lots unto him the said James Simpson, his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said trustees have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first written.
