John Williams to William Jones - Part of Shepherdsville Lot 43

On 7 Jun 1808, William De Rohan sold Shepherdsville Lot 43 (new plan) to William Graham. Graham then sold it to Henry Oldham on 18 Jul 1808. Oldham next sold it to Nathan Miles Jr. on 21 Nov 1821. Miles next sold it to John Williams on 13 Sep 1823. Then, after William Jones had mistakenly built his house over the line fron lot 44, he arranged to purchase that part of lot 43, as shown below.

Whereas William Jones purchased lot No. 44 in the new plan of the town of Shepherdsville and in building thereon put by mistake a part of his brick house, kitchen and stable on lot No. 43 owned by John Chaddic Jr., the legal title of which lot No. 43 is in John Williams, and the said William Jones has purchased of the said John Chaddic Jr. that part of said lot so improved on for the consideration of $10, and the said Chaddic Jr. has requested the said Williams to make the conveyance to the said Jones.

Now this indenture made this 17th day of November 1827 between the said John Williams and Mary his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and the said William Jones of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said John Williams and wife for and in consideration of the payment made to the said John Chaddic Jr. and his endorsement on the bond of the said Williams, and joining in this conveyance, have granted and conveyed and by these presents do grant, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said William Jones, his heirs &c the following described part of said lot No. 43, viz.

Beginning at the northwest corner of said William Jones' brick house on Main Cross Street, thence South 6 1/2° West 198'11" to a stake on the alley, thence South 83 1/2° East to the southwest corner of lot No. 44, thence North 6 1/2° West 198'11" to Main Cross Street, thence with the line of said street to the beginning.

To have and to hold the said piece or part of said lot No. 43 with the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said William Jones, his heirs &c, and to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever, and the said John Chaddic Jr. and Susanna his wife join in this conveyance for the purpose of relinquishing and conveying their right, title, interest, claim and dower in and to the said piece or part of said lot No. 43 and appurtenances, and they do hereby relinquish and convey the same to the said William Jones, his heirs &c; and the said John Williams and Mary his wife and John Chaddic Jr. and Susannah his wife do covenant and agree to and with the said William Jones, his heirs &c that they will and their heirs shall warrant and defend the said described part of said lot and appurtenances to the said William Jones, his heirs &c from themselve and all persons claiming or to claim the same.

In testimony whereof the said John Williams, and Mary his wife, John Chaddic Jr. and Susannah his wife hereto set their hands and seals on the day and year written.
