On 29 Mar 1849 the heirs of John S. Thixton sold Shepherdsville lot 27 to Dr. Joseph F. Birkhead, who sold it to Dr. Samuel A. McKay 20 years later. Following McKay's death the lot was sold to E. W. Hall. Hall had apparently sold half of the lot to F. P. Straus for on 1 Nov 1887 the two of them together sold the lot to Joel H. Tucker as shown below. Tucker would next sell the lot to R. F. Hays.

This indenture made and entered into this the 1st day of November 1887 by and between E. W. Hall, F. P. Straus and Katie L. Straus his wife of the first part and Joel H. Tucker of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky.
Witnesseth that the first parties for and in consideration of the sum of $900 to be paid as follows: $100 due and payable on the 25th day of December 1887; $200 due and payable on the 1st day of November 1888; $200 due and payable on the 1st day of November 1889; $200 due and payable on the 1st day of November 1890, and $200 due and payable on the 1st day of November 1891, evidenced by the promissory notes of the second party payable to F. P. Straus and E. W. Hall being even date herewith, the last four notes being 6% per annum interest from date until paid, interest due and payable annually on all of said notes.
The said E. W. Hall, F. P. Straus and Katie L. his wife have granted, bargained, sold and hereby sell, convey and deliver to the said Joel H. Tucker, his heirs and assigns forever with covenant of general warranty the following described property situated in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, viz: one house and lot No. 27 on the new plan of Shepherdsville on Second Street and Doctor's Alley fronting about 100 feet on Second Street and running back about 200 feet to an alley running by the jail lot, bring the same property conveyed to S. A. McKay on 1st September 1869 by Joseph F. Birkhead and wife and by James Y. Pope, executor of S. A. McKay to E. W. Hall on the 11th August 1884, one half of which was conveyed to F. P. Straus by E. W. Hall on the __ day of __ 1887.
To have and to hold said property to the said Joel H. Tucker, his heirs and assigns with all the appurtenances thereon and thereunto belonging. To secure the payment of the purchase money, a lien is retained on the property herein conveyed. Witness the hands of the grantors this the date first herein written.
