On 29 Mar 1849 the heirs of John S. Thixton sold Shepherdsville lot 27 to Dr. Joseph F. Birkhead, who sold it to Dr. Samuel A. McKay 20 years later, as shown below. McKay's heirs would sell it to E. W. Hall in 1884

This indenture entered into this 1st day of September 1869 between Joseph F. Birkhead and Matilda A. his wife, first parties, and Samuel A. McKay, second party, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky. Witnesseth that the first parties for and in consideration of $1400 in Louisville and Nashville Railroad stock this day transferred to and delivered to the first party, and the further consideration of $500 due and payable in 12 months from 1st day of October 1869 bearing interest from 1st October 1869 and note this day executed and a lien retained on the property herein conveyed to secure the same, they the first parties hereby bargain, sell, convey and deliver unto the second party with covenant of general warranty the following property, to-wit: Lot number twenty-seven (27) in the town of Shepherdsville lying on Second Street in said town and known on the new plan of said town as lot No. 27, and the out buildings and all the improvements and appurtenances thereon and thereunto belonging, and being the same lot purchased by the first party under decree of the Bullitt Circuit Court in case of John S. Thixton's administrator against John S. Thixton's heirs and creditorsdeed to the first party recorded in Bullitt County Court Clerk's office, Deed Book L, page 393. The $1400 in L & N R.R. stock herein before stated is 14 shares in Louisville & Nashville R.R. Co, let its value be more or less.
To have and to hold the property herein conveyed to him the said S. A. McKay and to his heirs and assigns forever and the first parties warrant the title to said house and lot and appurtenances against the claims of all persons. Witness the hands of the first parties this 1st day of September 1869; possession to begin 1st of October 1869.
