On 28 Apr 1821, Benjamin Summers sold a part of Shepherdsville lot 56 to Nathan and Walter B. Miles which included a strip across the lot from Main Street west to the alley, and extended northward a bit over 33 feet, and lay north of a lot Summers sold to Richard P. Simmons. We are not yet certain how Summers obtained this ground.

This indenture of bargain and sale made and entered into this 28th day of April 1821 between Benjamin Summers and Volinda Summers his wife of Bullitt County, state of Kentucky of the one part and Nathan and Walter B. Miles of the town of Shepherdsville, same state, the other part.
Witness that the said Summers and wife, for and in consideration of the sum of $200 to them in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby fully acknowledged, have this day granted, bargained, sold, aliened, and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, and confirm unto the said Nathan and Walter B. Miles and their heirs forever 1/6 part of lot number 56 in the town of Shepherdsville beginning on Main Street and running thence northwardly with said street 33 feet, 1 inch, thence parallel with the cross streets of Shepherdsville 99'5" back on which said lot the said Nathan and Walter B Miles have built a large brick house.
To have and to hold the shed a lot or parcel of ground together with all, and singular the improvements and advantages to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said Nathan and Walter B. Miles, and their heirs forever to and four their only proper use, benefit, and behoof forever.
And the said Summers and wife for themselves and their heirs do covenant, promise and agree, to and with the said Nathan and Walter B. Miles, and their heirs, that they will and their heirs shall forever warrant and defend to them the said Nathan and Walter B. Miles, and their heirs the said a lot or parcel of ground with the appurtenances thereunto belonging against the claim of themselves and their heirs, and all other persons whatever claiming or pretending to claim the same.
In witness whereof the said Summers and wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and date before written. (signed) Benjamin Summers, Volinder Summers.
