Benjamin Summers to Henry C. Jones - Part of Shepherdsville Lot 57

On 11 Feb 1818, Benjamin Summers purchased two-thirds of lot 57 (new plan) from Adam Shepherd. On 6 Apr 1821, he sold the ground to Henry C. Jones, as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into this 6th day of April 1821 between Benjamin Summers and Verlinder his wife of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Henry C. Jones of the same county and state of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Benjamin Summers & Verlinder his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $1000 current money of said state to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Henry C. Jones, his heirs and assigns forever all that part of lot number 57 in the new plan of Shepherdsville, and the appurtenances thereto belonging at present occupied by Bigger Head, and bounded as follow to-wit.

Beginning at the most southwestwardly corner of the original as whole lot, running therein North 6 1/2° East 66 feet, 3 2/3 inches to the corner of Richard P. Simmons' house, thence South 83 1/2° East 49 feet, 8 1/2 inches to the corner of John W. Beckwith's part of said lot, thence South 6 1/2° West 66 feet, 3 2/3 inches to the corner of John W. Beckwith's store house on Water Street, thence with Water Street to the beginning.

To have and to hold the said lot of ground and the improvements and advantages to the same belonging to the said Henry C. Jones and his heirs forever to and for his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof, and the said Benjamin Summers and Verlinder his wife for themselves and their heirs do covenant, promises and agree to and with the said Henry C. Jones that the said Summers and wife wil land their heirs, executors and administrators shall warrant and defend forever to the said Henrhy C. Jones, his heirs &c the foregoing described part of lot number 57 and the appurtenances thereto belonging against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Benjamin Summers and Verlinder his wife have set their hands and seals the day and year aforesaid.
