Joseph F. Birkhead to J. W. Tucker - 5 Acres

On 20 Jan 1872, John L. O'Brian sold 10 acres adjoining Shepherdsville to W. W. Zazio. Zazio then sold half of it to David M. Bates on 10 Mar 1879. Bates sold that five acres to Joseph F. Birkhead on 1 Sep 1879, and he sold it to J. W. Tucker, as shown below. J. W. Tucker sold this five acre tract to Martha Bunting on 25 May 1889.


Bullitt County Deed Book Z, Pages 250-251

This indenture made and entered into this 4th day of March 1885 by and between Joseph F. Birkhead of the city of Louisville, Kentucky of the first part and J. W. Tucker of the second part of Bullitt County, Kentucky.

Witnesseth that the first party for and in consideration of the sum of $350 paid and to be paid as follows $50 cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, $50 due and payable on 4th March 1886, $50 due and payable on 4th March 1887, $50 due 4th March 1888, $50 due 4th March 1889, $50 due 4th March 1890, $50 due 4th March 1891, evidenced by six promissory notes of the second party, payable to the first party bearing even date herewith, bearing 6% interest from maturity until paid and to secure the payment of same a lien is retained on the property herein conveyed, has granted, bargained and hereby sells, conveys and delivers to the said J. W. Tucker, his heirs and assigns forever a certain house and parcel of land in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, being the same conveyed to the first party by D. M. Bates and wife, deed recorded in Bullitt County Court clerk's office in Deed Book W, pages 260 & 261, and described therein as follows.

Situated in Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky adjoining the Kalfus tanyard property on the east, the lands of G. W. Simmons & Mrs. M. A. Isaacs on the south, (the Simmons property being the same lately purchased of Joseph Chaddic and wife), the lane leading from the Bullitt's Lick Road to George W. Simmons on the west, and the dirt road known as Bullitt's Lick Road on the north, supposed to contain 5 acres, be the same more or less.

To have and to hold the same to the said J. W. Tucker, his heirs and assigns forever together with all the appurtenances thereon and thereunto belonging with convenant of general warranty. Witness the hand of the grantor this the 4th day of March 1885. (signed) Jos. F. Birkhead
