Edward Frye to John L. Summers - Shepherdsville Lot 54

On 15 May 1800, Edward Frye sold this Shepherdsville lot to John L. Summers of Montgomery County, Maryland as shown below. Under the original town plan it had been numbered as #7, but the revised plan made by James Shanks numbered it as number 54. The lot would later be in the hands of John B. Summers who sold it to Lewis Willcoxen.

This indenture made this 15th day of May 1800 between Edward Frye and Mary his wife of Bullitt County and State of Kentucky of the one part and John L. Summers of the County of Montgomery and State of Maryland of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Edward Frye and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of 300 pounds, current money of Kentucky, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold to the said John L. Summers a certain parcel of land or lot of land distinguished by lot number seven, lying and being now in the County of Bullitt agreeably to the plan of said town as laid out conformable to an Act of Assembly passed in the year 1793 entitled "An Act for establishing a town of the land of Adam Shepherd in the County of Jefferson" it being the lot whereon Benjamin Summers now lives in the town known by the name of Shepherdsville, the said lot number seven being 99 feet, 5 inches fronting near to Salt River and 198 feet, 10 inches back.

To have and to hold the aforesaid lot together with all and singular, and every of the appurtenances thereon and thereto belonging unto the said John L. Summers, his heirs and assigns forever; and the said Edward Frye and Mary his wife, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns do hereby warrant and forever defend the aforesaid lot of land and premises from the claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever.

And further the said Edward Frye and Mary his wife do hereby for themselves, their heirs, executors, and administrators promise and agree to and with the said John L. Summers, his heirs and assigns that they will at any time hereafter at the cost and charge in the law of him the said John L. Summers, his heirs or assigns, made do and execute or cause or procure t obe made done and execute any further deed or deeds or other writing which he or they or his or their counsel learned in the law may advise, devise or require for the better securing the aforesaid bargained and sold lot unto him the said John L. Summers, his heirs and assigns forever.
