On 26 Jun 1797, the town trustees deeded a lot on Water Street to Edward Frye as shown below. In the original town plan it was numbered as #7, but the new plan drawn by James Shanks would number it as #54. Frye would sell the lot to John L. Summers in 1800.

This indenture made this 26th day of June in the year of our Lord 1797 between Nacy Brashear, Michael Troutman, Frederick Penny-Baker, Benjamin Stansbury and John Essary, trustees of the town of Shepherdsville of the one part and Edward Frye of the town aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly passed in the year 1793 establishing the said town of Shepherdsville and also for and in consideration of the sum of five pounds current money paid to Adam Shepherd agreeable to the requisition of the said Act, the said trustees have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Edward Frye one lot of ground lying and being in the said town of Shepherdsville and known by the number seven, purchased at the first sale of lots in the aforesaid town of Shepherdsville and laid off to said Frye on Water Street adjoining the alley on one side and the sink hold on the other side, together with all and every of the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Edward Frye and his heirs forever to his and their only proper use and behoof; and the said trustees do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Edward Frye that they will forever warrant and defend the right and title of the said lot of ground with its appurtenances unto the said Edward Frye and his heirs forever against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said trustees have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals this day and year above written. [signed by trustees]
