Elizabeth (Styles) Crow to Benjamin Summers & George W. Jenkins - Lot 55

Lot 55 was first purchased by James Simpson on 27 Jun 1797. Simpson sold it to Thomas Sanders on 23 Mar 1801. Then Sanders (by Circuit Court) sold it to Thomas Allen on 9 May 1811. Allen then sold it to Elizabeth Styles on 23 Feb 1816. After she married Edward Crow, the lot was sold to Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins, as shown below.


Bullitt County Deed Book E, Pages 249-251

This indenture made this 7th day of August 1824 between Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part, and Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins of the same county and state of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $660 currency of Kentucky to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins, their heirs &c forever a certain lot of ground situate lying and being in the town of Shepherdsville and known on the new plan of said town by the number 55, containing by the survey of said town half an acre, being the same lot of ground which was conveyed by Thomas Allen to the said Elizabeth Crow who was Elizabeth Skyles by deed bearing date the 23rd day of February 1816 and recorded in the Clerk's office of the County Court of Bullitt County, reference being thereto had will more fully appear.

To have to hold the said lot of ground with the appurtenances unto the said Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins, their heirs &c, free and clear of and from all right and title of dower or other incumbrance whatsoever, and the said Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife for themselves, their heirs &c do covenant and agree to and with the said Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins, their heirs &c that they will and their heirs shall warrant and forever defend the said lot of ground from themselves and their heirs and all persons claiming or to claim the same to the said Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins, their heirs &c. In testimony whereof the said Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife hereto set their hands and affix their seals on the day and year before written. [signed by grantors]
