On 20 Nov 1816, Adam Shepherd sold 23 acres north of Shepherdsville and west of Main Street extended to James Halbert and Henry Jones, but the deed was made just in Halbert's name. This deed is shown below. Shepherd had earlier sold one acre to Jacob Shawler and George Shock that sat in the southeast corner of Halbert's new tract. Then on 18 Jan 1819, Halbert sold four acres to Benjamin Hughes that was located just north of the northwest corner of Shepherdsville above lots 1-4. On 18 Jan 1819, Halbert transferred ownership of 10 of the 23 acres to Henry Jones. Then on 8 Nov 1819, Halbert sold another 4 acre tract to Henry and J. W. Jones.

This indenture made this 20th day of November 1816 between Adam Shepherd and Rachael his wife of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the one part and James Halbert of the same county and state of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Adam Shepherd and Rachael his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $161 current money of said state to them in hand paid by the said James Halbert, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and forever acquit and discharge the said Halbert, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said James Halbert and his heirs all the land lying in said county of Bullitt adjoining the town of Shepherdsville which is within the following bounds, to wit.
Beginning at a stake the most northeastwardly corner of Jacob Shawler's one acre lot, running thence North 6 1/2° East 57 1/2 poles to a stake, thence North 83 1/2° West 55 1/2 poles to a stake, thence South 6 1/2° West 69 1/2 poles to a stake, thence South 83 1/2° East 43 1/2 poles to a stake, another corner of said Shawler's lot, thence with a line of his lot North 6 1/2° East 12 poles to a stake, another of said Shawler's corners, thence with another of said Shawler's lines South 83 1/2° East 12 poles to the beginning, supposed to contain 23 acres be the same more or less.
To have to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all and singular the appurtenances unto the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said James Halbert, his heirs and assigns to and for his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Adam Shepherd and Rachael his wife do covenant and agree to and with the said James Halbert and his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns that they the said Adam and Rachael will and their heirs executors and administrators shall warrant and forever defend to him and them the before described premises against the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming or pretending to claim the same.
