On 20 Nov 1816, Adam Shepherd sold 23 acres north of Shepherdsville to James Halbert and Henry Jones, but the deed was made just in Halbert's name. Then on 18 Jan 1819, Halbert sold four acres to Benjamin Hughes that was located just north of the northwest corner of Shepherdsville above lots 1-4 as shown below. On 18 Jan 1819, Halbert transferred ownership of 10 of the 23 acres to Henry Jones. Then on 8 Nov 1819, Halbert sold another 4 acre tract to Henry and J. W. Jones.

This indenture made this 18th day of January 1819 between James Halbert, Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Benjamin Hughes of the county and state aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said James Halbert for and in consideration of the sum of $70 current money to him in hand paid by the said Hughes, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Benjamin Hughes and his heirs forever the following lot or parcel of land to wit.
Beginning at a stake standing North 6 1/2° East 80 feet from the northwestwardly corner of a lot No. 1 in the new plan of Shepherdsville, running thence North 6 1/2° East 23 1/6 poles to a stake, thence South 83 1/2° East about 27 poles to a stake on the direction of the most westwardly side line of Plumb Street when extended, thence South 6 1/2° West 23 1/6 poles to a stake, thence North 83 1/2° west about 27 poles to the beginning; supposed to contains four acres, be the same more or less.
To have and to hold the said lot or parcel of land as before described together with all and singular the improvements and advantages to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Benjamin Hughes and his heirs to and for his and their only proper use and behoof forever; and the said James Halbert doth covenant, promise and agree to and with the said Benjamin Hughes and his heirs that the before described lot of land and appurtenances he the said Halbert will and his heirs, executives and administrators shall forever warrant and defend by these presents against the claim or claims of all other persons whatsoever.
