Samuel Brown to Elizabeth Hall - Mt. Washington Lot 78

On 8 Sep 1830, Samuel Brown sold Mt. Washington lot No. 78 to Elizabeth Hall, as shown below. Brown was the original purchaser of this lot [see Deed Book C, page 507] at the first sale of town lots. It appears from the deed that Elizabeth was already living there. In the 1840 census, Elizabeth's age was given as between 70-79. She died on 28 Sep 1840 and is buried in the Newkirk Cemetery in Bullitt County. At her death the lot descended to her two children Rebecca Newkirk and John S. Hall.

Rebecca and John had purchased the adjoining lot 74 from Samuel Gentry in 1844. On 9 Feb 1846, John S. Hall sold his half share of lots 74 and 78 to Austin Hough. Then on 5 Dec 1846, Rebecca and Austin agreed on a division of the property.
