On 24 Feb 1844, Samuel Gentry, the original purchaser of Mt. Washington lot 74 [see Deed Book D, page 99], sold the lot to Rebecca Newkirk and John S. Hall, children of Elizabeth Hall, as shown below. It adjoined lot 78 which had been purchased by Elizabeth Hall in 1830. In the 1840 census, Elizabeth's age was given as between 70-79. She died on 28 Sep 1840 and is buried in the Newkirk Cemetery in Bullitt County. At her death the lot descended to her two children.
On 9 Feb 1846, John S. Hall sold his half share of lots 74 and 78 to Austin Hough. Then on 5 Dec 1846, Rebecca and Austin agreed on a division of the property.

This indenture made and entered into this 24th day of February 1844 by and between Samuel Gentry and Elizabeth his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and Rebecca Newkirk and John S. Hall of the county and state aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Samuel Gentry and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $20 good and lawful money of the United States of America to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold, and do by these presents grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Rebecca Newkirk and John S. Hall, one certain lot situate lying and being in the town of Mount Washington in the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky and designated and known in the plat of said town by and as number 74 together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Rebecca Newkirk and John S. Hall, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever.
And the said Samuel Gentry, and Elizabeth his wife doth hereby covenant and agreed to and with the said Rebecca Newkirk and John S. Hall that the aforesaid Lot No. 74 in the town of Mount Washington aforesaid with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging hereby conveyed, they the said Samuel Gentry and Elizabeth his wife wil and their heirs, executors, administrators &c shall warrant and defend the title of the same unto the said Rebecca Newkirk and John S. Hall, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the claim or claims of themselves and their heirs, and against the claim or claims of all persons claiming by through or under them, and against the claim or claims of all persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same.
