Nicholas Simmons to Thomas Joyce - Shepherdsville Lots 21 & 22

In 1837, Thomas Joyce mortgaged Shepherdsville lots 21 and 22 to Richard P. Simmons, and also placed a second mortgage on his tavern house lot (part of lots 39 and 40). After Joyce paid Simmons what he owed on lots 21 & 22, Simmons released them back to Joyce on 31 May 1839. Later, through court suits, Joyce lost the lots to Nicholas Simmons. Then in July 1860, Simmons deeded the lots back to Thomas Joyce as shown below.

This indenture made this 23rd day of July 1860 between Nicholas Simmons and Elizabeth Simmons his wife of the first part and Thomas Joyce of the second part.

Witness whereas heretofore the party of the first part purchased at sheriff's sale the mill house and appurtenances on Lots No. 21 and 22 in Shepherdsville and had a deed therefore and the party of the first doth hereby resell, and convey said two lots unto said Thomas Joyce, which are sold without warranty and a small execution in the name of said Simmons before the police judge of Shepherdsville for $__ is paid.
