Thomas Joyce to Richard P. Simmons - Parts of Shepherdsville Lots 39 & 40

In 1835, Thomas Joyce mortgaged parts of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40 to Richard P. Simmons, likely as part payment for a debt owed to Simmons, as shown below. Then in 1837, Joyce gave a second mortgage of this ground, and a first mortgage on lots 21 and 22 along with the steam mill engine and associated equipment located there. Then in 1838, he sold the ground to Jesse Applegate, with the stipulation that Applegate would pay Joyce's debt to Simmons. Applegate would later sell it to W. W. Maraman.
