Edward McDade to Richard P. Simmons - Part of Lot 25

On 6 Oct 1821, James J. Dozier sold a part of Shepherdsville lot #25 to Edward McDade who sold it to Richard P. Simmons, as shown below. The deed was originally made in March 1823, but failed to be recorded in the clerk's office until 1853. This was the northernmost 40 feet of lot 25.

Simmons' heirs would later sell the ground to Henry J. Craycroft.


Bullitt County Deed Book M, Pages 495-496

This indenture made and entered into this 10th day of March 1823 between Edward McDade and Elizabeth McDade his wife of the county of Jefferson and state of Kentucky of the one part and Richard P. Simmons of the county of Bullitt and state aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Edward McDade and Elizabeth his wife for, and in consideration of the sum of $570 current money to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof of they do hereby acknowledge, have this day granted, bargained, and sold aliened and conveyed, and do by these presents grant, bargain, sell, alien and convey unto the said Richard P. Simmons and his heirs forever, a certain lot of ground situate, lying, and being in the town of Shepherdsville, containing 40 feet in front and 99'5" back being the most northwardly part of a half acre lot known on the first plan of said town by the number 20 and on the last plan of said town by the number 25, on which lot is a dwelling house smokehouse, and well, and the same which was conveyed by deed bearing date the 19th day of May 1817 by John Graham and Elizabeth his wife, recorded in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court to John Chaddic, reference being had thereto wil more fully appear.

To have and to hold the said lot of ground with all and singular the improvements and advantages to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said Richard P. Simmons and his heirs forever to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Edward McDade and Elizabeth his wife to themselves and their heirs do covenant, promise and agree to and with the said Richard P. Simmons and his heirs that they will and their heirs shall forever warrant and defend to him he said Richard P. Simmons and his heirs the said lot or parcel of ground with the appurtenances thereunto belonging against the claim or claims of themselves and their heirs, and all other persons whatsoever claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said Edward McDade and Elizabeth McDade his wife have hereunto set their hands and affirmed their seals the day and year first written. (signed) Edward McDade
