For the 1950 census, Bullitt County was divided into 16 enumeration districts. The district descriptions are given below. We are actively adding limited transcriptions of these districts to the linked pages described below.
Magisterial District 1, Shepherdsville
Shepherdsville was essentially divided north (District 1) and south (District 2) with the center of Third Street as the primary dividing line as far west as Abbott Street. Then Abbott was the dividing line north to Fourth Street (Highway 44W) with all of the area from the west side of Abbott and south side of Fourth Street as part of District 2.

That part west of Bluelick Road and north of State Highway 44, outside Shepherdsville town.
That part east of Bluelick Road and west of Louisville and Nashville Railroad, outside Shepherdsville town (population of A and B: 1738).
That part south of State Hwy. 44 and north and west of Salt River, outside Shepherdsville town and excluding Fort Knox (part) [15-6], U.S. Navy Proving Grounds [15-7] and U.S.N. Ordnance Plant "F" [15-8] which are listed at the bottom of this page. (population: 642)
Magisterial District 2, Mt. Washington
That part east of U.S. Highway 31E and south of State Highway 44 including part of Mt. Washington town. (population: 1239)
That part west of U.S. Highway 31E and north of State Highway 44 including part of Mt. Washington town. (population: 1204)
Magisterial District 3, Leaches
Includes the entire magisterial district, and is located south of Salt River, and east of Lickskillet Creek; also including the communities of Chapeze, Clermont, and Lotus. (population: 1306)
Magisterial District 4, Pine Tavern
That part east of Louisville and Nashville Railroad (population: 622)
That part west of Louisville and Nashville Railroad (population: 621)
That part east of Louisville and Nashville Railroad, outside Lebanon Junction town (population: 770)
That part west of Louisville and Nashville Railroad, outside Lebanon Junction town (population: 604) Also, E.D. 15-16 which includes that part of Fort Knox in this district. (population: 6)

The Bullitt County History Museum, a service of the Bullitt County Genealogical Society, is located in the county courthouse at 300 South Buckman Street (Highway 61) in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. The museum, along with its research room, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday appointments are available by calling 502-921-0161 during our regular weekday hours. Admission is free. The museum, as part of the Bullitt County Genealogical Society, is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization and is classified as a 509(a)2 public charity.
