Images of the 1950 census pages are available on the official government website, and have been "read" via OCR software, making it possible to locate people within limits. While the software has done a pretty good job, some handwriting has created issues, making it difficult to always find the person you seek.
For this reason we have completed a limited transcription including the names and ages of the occupants on the pages for Bullitt County. Below you will find our efforts for Enumeration District 5.
This district includes that part south of State Highway 44 and north and west of Salt River, outside Shepherdsville town and excluding Fort Knox (part) [15-6], U.S. Navy Proving Grounds [15-7] and U.S.N. Ordnance Plant "F" [15-8] which are marked by circled S's on this map, and listed at the bottom of this page.

The Bullitt County History Museum, a service of the Bullitt County Genealogical Society, is located in the county courthouse at 300 South Buckman Street (Highway 61) in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. The museum, along with its research room, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday appointments are available by calling 502-921-0161 during our regular weekday hours. Admission is free. The museum, as part of the Bullitt County Genealogical Society, is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization and is classified as a 509(a)2 public charity.
