George W. Bowman to Henrietta Wilson - One-Fifth of Lot 28

On 30 Aug 1827, George F. Pope, as commissioner, deeded Shepherdsville town lot 27 and part of lot 28 to Matthew Wilson. Wilson sold the part of Lot 28 and the brick house on it to Richard Simcoe as trustee for Henrietta Oldham, daughter of Dr. H. Oldham, as shown below.

Henrietta Wilson, born 22 Apr 1828, daughter of Henry and Eliza Oldham, died of consumption on 17 Oct 1852. She was buried in the Old City Cemetery in Shepherdsville.

She had married the lawyer William Wilson on 27 May 1847, and they had two children, Henry Turner Wilson, born 7 Apr 1848, and Mary who was born 17 Jul 1850, but died 13 Jan 1853, and is buried alongside her mother.

The brick house sat on the southwest corner of Lot 28, and this deed divides the lot, giving to William and Henrietta Wilson the western slice the width of the brick house. The remainder of the lot to the east was allotted to R. B. Simcoe, M. L. B. Simcoe his wife, Henry W. Simcoe, James P. Oldham and John W. Oldham, heirs of Samuel Oldham.

In 1849, James P. Oldham lost his one-fifth share to George W. Bowman in a court case. On 6 Nov 1850, John W. Oldham sold his share of Lot 28 to Henrietta Wilson Then on 1 Jan 1851, Bowman sold his share of the lot to Henrietta Wilson as shown below.

This indenture made this first day of January 1851 between George W. Bowman and Louisa P. Bowman his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and Henrietta Wilson of the same county and state aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Bowman and wife for and in consideration of the sum of $70 cash in hand paid, the said party of the first part have sold, and do by these presents sell and convey to the party of the second part, the 1/5 part of lot number 28 in the new plan of the town of Shepherdsville, being the interest of James P. Oldham in said lot purchased by the said Bowman at sheriff's sale under an execution No. __ issued from the clerk's office of the Bullitt Circuit Court in the name of J. W. Bowman & Co. against said J. P. Oldham.

To have and to hold the said undivided interest aforesaid to the said Henrietta Wilson, her heirs and assigns forever against the claim of them the said George W. Bowman and wife and their heirs and all persons claiming or to claim the same.
