Mrs. Ann Jones to John Korb - 50 Acres

In 1863, Wilhite Carpenter and his wife sold 50 acres of land to Miss Ann E. Grant of Louisville. This land lay just east of Shepherdsville and adjoined the land they had previously sold to Benjamin Oxley. It also adjoined the Paroquet Spring tract. On 13 Dec 1865, Ann, now Mrs. Ann Jones, sold this lot to John Korb, as shown below. Also shown below is a plat showing the Korb tract that was drawn by W. C. Herps in 1920.

Bullitt County Deed Book Q, Pages 157-158

This deed between Mrs. Anne C. Jones, formerly Miss Anne C. Grant, of Louisville, Kentucky of the first part and John Korb of the place of the second part.

Witnesseth that the said party of the first part, in consideration of $2500 in the following payments: $500 paid in hand and two notes of $1000 each, the first note payable on the 13th day of December 1866 with interest from date, and the second note payable on the 13th day of December 1867, and a lien is retained to secure the payment of the same; the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, do hereby sell, grant and convey to the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, the following described property, viz.

A certain piece or tract of land in Bullitt County adjoining the town of Shepherdsville and bounded as follows: beginning at a point 37 feet northwest of the northwest [should be "northeast of the northeast"] corner of the seminary lot, a corner made in a sale of land to B. F. Oxley by W. Carpenter, and running with said line to the Paroquette Springs tract, thence with said Springs tract to Salt River, thence down Salt River to the old ferry road, thence down the river at 7 feet perpendicular height above low water mark to East Street, thence with East Street to the southwest corner of the seminary lot, thence with the seminary lot with its meanders to the beginning, containing 50 acres more or less.

To have and to hold the same with all the appurtenances thereon to the second party, his heirs and assigns forever with covenant of general warranty. In testimony whereof witness our signatures this 13th day of December 1865. (signed) Ann C. Jones

State of Kentucky, County of Jefferson, Sct. I T. Jack Conn, clerk of the county court of the county aforesaid, do certify that on this day the foregoing deed was produced to me in my office and acknowledged and delivered by Ann C.
