On 19 Sep 1872, Ellen Wright and James C. Wright together leased a tract of their land to Samuel Carrothers who was operating a distillery on the land. The deed is shown below. This appears, from a later deed, to be "a strip of 1/2 acre of ground, part of a tract of 350 acres of land in Bullitt County, Kentucky, conveyed by William Polk to James and Joseph H. Wright, said strip fronting on the west side of the turnpike 420 feet and running back 55 feet at one end and 50 feet at the other."
Ellen Wright extended the lease in 1875.
