In 1830, Wilford Lee sold parts of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40 to Thomas Joyce which he had obtained in the sale of James Browns' property in the decree of Circuit Court in Elizabeth Griffin's suit against that estate. Joyce would later mortgage this lot along with lots 1 and 3 to Richard P. Simmons. Then he would sell the three lots to Jesse Applegate who would also cover the mortgage to Simmons.
