Thomas Shain to Robert F. Samuels - Parts of Shepherdsville Lots 23-24

On 14 Oct 1840, Thomas Shain sold his part of Shepherdsville lots 23 and 24 in Robert F. Samuels, as shown below.

There's indenture made and entered into this 14th day of October and the year of our Lord 1840 by and between Thomas Shain of the first part and Robert F. Samuels of the second part, both of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky. Witness that the said Shain, for and in consideration of the sum of $177 lawful money, the receipt whereof he does hereby acknowledge, has given, granted, bargained, and sold, and does hereby sell and convey unto the said party of the second part one equal undivided moiety half of a certain a lot of ground lying in Shepherdsville aforesaid, being part of lots numbers 23 and 24 in the new plan of the said town of Shepherdsville and which said parts of lots, the storehouse stands which adjoins the Bullitt county jail and the lot here by conveyed is the same lot sold and conveyed by Rufus K. Summers and Sidna Ann his wife to Thomas Shain by deed bearing date the 26th day of January 1838, and is now recorded in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court in deed book I, page 90, with all and singular one equal moiety of the appurtenances unto the said lot belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever.

And the said party of the first part does covenant and agree to and with the party of the second part that the title to the said one equal undivided moiety of the said lot of ground to the party of the second part he will forever warrant and defend against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said Thomas Shain has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first herein written. (signed) Thomas Shain.

State of Kentucky, Bullitt County, to wit. I Noah C. Summers, clerk of the county court for said county, certify that this deed from Thomas Shain to Robert F. Samuels was the 27th day of October 1840 acknowledged by said Thomas Shain to be his act and deed, and thereupon said deed and this certificate are truly recorded in my office this 31st of October 1840.
