While most original Shepherdsville lots were sold as whole lots, the one sitting at the corner of Main and Water Streets (originally numbered as #5, and later as #56) was divided in half, with Thomas McGee purchasing the southern half, and John Scott the northern part
On 25 Sep 1798, Scott Sr. deeded part of the half-lot to his son John Scott Jr. It is confusing to read, but apparently Scott Sr. had already sold parts of the half-lot to others including perhaps Zachariah DeWitt and Isaac Pomroy who then sold their shares to James Burks.
It appears that these shares, perhaps along with the rest of the half-lot came into the hands of John Burks who sold the ground to Seth B. Thornberry, as shown below. Seth would later mortgage the ground to Abraham Field (shown below), before selling it to Daniel Thornberry.

This indenture made this 12th day of June in the year of our Lord 1817 between Seth B. Thornberry of Bullitt County and State of Kentucky of the one part and Abraham Fields Jr. of Jefferson County and state aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Seth B. Thornberry for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar current money to him in hand paid by the said Fields, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Abraham Fields and his heirs forever all that part of an original half acre lot in the town of Shepherdsville which said Thornberry purchased from John Burks, and known in the plan of said town by the number five, including the house wherein I now live, and all the improvements belonging to the same.
To have and to hold the said lot of land and all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Abraham Fields Jr. and his heirs and assigns to and for his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Seth B. Thornberry for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators do covenant, promise and agree to and with the said Abraham Fields Jr. that the aforesaid lot of land and appurtenances he will and his heirs, executors and administrators shall forever warrant and defend to him against the claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever; provided nevertheless and these presents are upon this express condition that if the said Seth B. Thornberry shall by himself or his heirs &c pay unto the said Abraham Fields Jr. the sum of $771 current money with legal interest from the first day of November 1816 within three month from this present date, then and in that case the foregoing indenture shall cease and all titles derived thereto to the said Fields shall be reverted in the said Thornberry, otherwise remains in full effect. In witness whereof the said Thornberry hath set his hand and seal the day and year first above mentioned. [signed by Thornberry]
