Shepherdsville Trustees to Thomas McGee - Half of Lot 56

While most original Shepherdsville lots were sold as whole lots, the one sitting at the corner of Main and Water Streets (originally numbered as #5, and later as #56) was divided in half, with Thomas McGee purchasing the southern half, as shown below, and John Scott the northern part.

After purchasing the half-lot on 3 Mar 1817, McGee sold it two days later to Maxwell Huston. It is not yet clear how long Huston owned the half-lot, but by 7 Oct 1828 it was in the hands of Joseph McGee who then sold it to Richard P. Simmons.

Adam Shepherd."

And by virtue of the act of assembly establishing said town and this indenture, witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises we the said James Alexander, John Graham and James Halbert, Trustees as aforesaid, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, and set over unto the said Thomas McGee and his heirs forever all that part of lot No. 5 in the old plan of said town and No. 56 in the new plan of said town which lies within the following bounds, to wit.
