Joseph P. Simmons to William Shane & John S. Smith - Shepherdsville Lots 23-24

On 6 Mar 1854, Joseph P. Simmons of Louisville sold parts of Shepherdsville lots 23 and 24 to William Shane and John S. Smith. Smith died prior to 15 Jan 1855 when Shane and Woodford McDowell were granted administration of his estate.

This indenture made and entered into this sixth day of March 1854 between Joseph P. Simmons of the city of Louisville, county of Jefferson, and state of Kentucky of the one part and William Shane and John S. Smith of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the other part.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $1333.33 cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and $333.33 to be paid 12 months from the date hereof, and $333.33 to be paid in two years from the date hereof which is secured to be paid by their notes of even date hereof and bearing interest from date, have granted, bargained and sold and doth by these presents grant, bargain and sell unto the said William Shain and John S. Smith, their heirs and assigns the houses and lots conveyed to him by Thomas A. Mitchell and wife by deed dated 15th day of October 1852, and recorded in Bullitt County Court clerk's office, Deed Book M, page 372 in the new plan of the town of Shepherdsville, being parts of lots No. 23 and 24.

To have and to hold the said lots and appurtenances unto the said William Shane and John S. Smith and their heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of any and all persons claiming or to claim the same in any manner whatever by deed and fee simple with general warranty.

It is expressly understood that the said Joseph P. Simmons retains a lien upon the premises herein conveyed until the purchase money is paid. In witness, whereof the said Joseph P. Simmons has hereto set his hand and seal the day and year first herein written. (signed) Joseph P. Simmons
