On 5 Aug 1818, James Scott sold Lot #1 (#60 under new plan) to Benjamin Summers. It is not yet certain if Scott was the original purchaser of this lot.

This indenture made and entered into this fifth day of August in the year of our Lord, 1818 between James Scott of Washington county, Missouri territory by John Murphy Jr., his attorney of the one part, and Benjamin Summers of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $100 current money of the United States to him said Scott, in hand, paid by the said Summers, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Scott hath granted, bargain and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and set over to the said Benjamin Summers and his heirs forever, a certain lot or piece of land in Shepherdsville known in the first plan of said town by the number one and the plan made out by James Shanks number 60 together with all the advantages to the said lot belonging or in any way appertaining.
To have, and to hold the siad lot of land with the appurtenances to the same belonging unto the said Benjamin Summers and his heirs to and for his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said James Scott for himself and his heirs doth covenant, promise and agree to and with the said Benjamin Summers and his heirs that the before described lot of land with the appurtenances (supposed to contain one half an acre) be the said Scoot and his heirs, will forever warrant and defend to the said Summers and his heirs against the claim of himself and his heirs and all persons claiming or to claim the same by this from or under him.
The witness whereof the said James Scott by his attorney hath set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above mentioned.
