Richard P. Simmons to William Jones - Shepherdsville Lot 44

In 1820, via a Circuit Court decree, John Beckwith as commissioner deeded Shepherdsville lot #44 to William Jones from the estate of James Brown deceased. This was following a court suit brought by Elizabeth Griffin against the Brown estate. Richard P. Simmons also appears to have a claim to this lot for on 12 Dec 1832 he deeded it to Jones as a quit claim, as shown below.

This indenture made that 12th day of December 1832 between Richard P. Simmons and Mary his wife of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the one part and William Jones of the same county and state of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Richard P. Simmons and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $66.77 in notes of the Bank of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said __ a certain half acre lot of land being in and a part of the town of Shepherdsville and known and designated on the map or plan of said town by the number 44, being the same lot on which the said Jones now lives, and which was conveyed by Lewis M. Taylor, deputy for Richard Taylor, Sergeant of the Court of Appeals of Kentucky to the said Richard P. Simmons, by deed duly recorded in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court.

To have and to hold the said lot and appurtenances unto him the said William Jones, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, and to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever, the said Simmons and wife only warranting and defending the said lot and appurtenances from themselves and their heirs alone, this being only a quit claim deed and without responsibility for the title in any event whatever. In testimony, whereof the said Richard P. Simmons and Mary his wife hereto set their hands and seals on the day and year before written.
