Benjamin F. Oxley of Missouri purchased land adjoining Shepherdsville from Lorenzo Hoglan, and also land from Wilhite Carpenter. These two tracts were combined into what became known as Oxley's Addition to Shepherdsville. Oxley then began selling town lots in this addition to others. As Oxley was living in Missouri at the time of these sales, the transaction was handled by his brother-in-law, James H. Oliver. One of these sales is described below.

Warranty Deed. Know all men by these presents that B. F. Oxley and Evelyn B. Oxley his wife of the county of Platte and state of Missouri of the first part for and in consideration of $60 to them paid by C. Stoner Kaufman of the city of Cincinnati and state of Ohio, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell and convey to the said C. Stoner Kaufman, his heirs and assigns forever all of those two town lots in said B. F. Oxley and Evelyn B. Oxley's Paraquette addition to the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky known according to the plat of said town, which is duly recorded in the proper office at Shepherdsville as lots No. 124 and 123, each being 40 feet front and 110 feet deep to a 10 foot alley (Nos. 124 & 123), and all the estate, title and interest of the said B. F. Oxley and Evelyn B. Oxley his wife either in law or in equity of in and to the said premises, together with all the privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging.
To have and to hold to the own proper use of the said C. Stoner Kaufman, his heirs and assigns forever and the said B. F. Oxley and Evelyn B. Oxley his wife, their heirs, executors and administrators hereby covenant with the said C. Stoner Kaufman, his heirs and assigns that they are true and lawful owners of the said premises, and have full power to convey the same, and that the title so conveyed is clear, free and unencumbered, and further that they will warrant and defend the same against all claim or claims of all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said B. F. Oxley and Evelyn B. Oxley his wife who hereby releases her right and expectancy of dower in the said premises had hereunto set their hands and seals on this tenth day of February in the year of our Lord 1859.
