James McKeever Heirs to Andrew Lewis Roger

On 1 Jun 1811, William McKeever, as attorney in fact for the heirs of James McKeever deceased, acknowledged a formal deed of the two tracts adjoining Shepherdsville to Andrew Lewis Roger. The description given matches that given in the deed from Adam Shepherd to James McKeever, dated 13 Aug 1804.

This indenture made this first day of June in the year of our Lord 1811, between Mary McKeever, widow of the late James McKeever, James McKeever, William Dehaven and Mary his wife, Isaac McKeever, and Benjamin McKeever of the city of Philadelphia in the state of Pennsylvania, and William McKeever of New Orleans, heirs and representatives of the said James McKeever deceased of the one part and Andrew Lewis Roger of Shepherdsville in the state of Kentucky of the other part. Witnesseth that the said heirs for and in consideration of $1400 to them in hand paid by said Roger before the sealing hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted and bargained, sold, aliened and confirmed and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, and seal, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Roger a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and fifty acres, situate, lying and being in the county of Bullitt near and adjoining Shepherdsville aforesaid and bounded as follows, to wit. Beginning at two black walnuts and three mulberry saplings on the north bank of Salt River, thence South 79° East 240 poles to a black or red oak, elm and sweet gum saplings in a flat, thence South 6° 30' West 49 poles to a stake corner to the grave yard, thence with a line of the same North 83° West 25 poles to another stake, thence South six degrees thirty minutes west six poles to another stake, thence South 83 1/2° East 25 poles to a stake, thence South 6° 30' West 26 poles to a line of said Shepherd's 600 acre survey on the bank of Salt River, thence down said river and binding thereon with the several meanders thereof to the beginning. And also one other tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the said county of Bullitt adjoining the said 150 acres contained principally by and within the bed of Salt river and bounded as follows, to wit, beginning in the upper line of the aforesaid 150 acre tract at the junction of the lower line of Water Street, thence with said street line up the river as far as Walnut street, thence with said street to the river, thence up the river to a large beech tree marked A.S., corner to Peter Shepherd's 600 acre survey, thence with the line thereof South 36° West to the south side of Salt River and so far up the bank thereof as shall be seven feet perpendicular height above low water mark, thence down said river at the distance aforesaid to opposite the beginning corner of the aforesaid tract of 150 acresthence crossing the river to the beginning corner, thence up the river with the lines of the same aforesaid tract 150 acres aforesaid to the beginning with all and singular the appurtenances to the said two tracts of land in any wise belonging. To have and to hold the said two tracts of land with their appurtenances to the said Roger, his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper use and behoof forever, subject however to the restrictions and reservations contained in a deed executed by Adam Shepherd and others to the said decedent and recorded in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court. And the said heirs for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators do further covenant and agree to and with the said Roger, his heirs and assigns, that they will forever warrant and defend the said two tracts of land with their appurtenances to him, his heirs &c against themselves, their heirs &c, and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever, subject to the reservations and restrictions aforesaid. In witness whereof the said heirs have hereunto set hands and affixed their seals this date first above written. (William McKeever signed for each one, as their attorney in fact.)
