William Jones to Jonathan Gore Jr. - 10 Acres

On 22 Nov 1817, Adam Shepherd sold ten acres of ground adjacent to Shepherdsville to William Jones. This would later become part of the town. Jones would later sell the ground to Jonathan Gore Jr. on 23 May 1821, as shown below. Gore would later sell the land to Matthew Wilson.

This indenture made this 23rd day of May 1821 between William Jones and Anna, his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and Jonathan Gore Jr. of the same county and state of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said, William Jones and Anna his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $150 current money to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Jonathan Gore Jr. and his heirs &c forever a certain parcel of land situate, lying and being in the said county of Bullitt adjoining the lands of Beckwith and Grayson, James Halbert and the land sold by the sheriff of said county to Richard P. Simmons, and bounded as follows, to wit.

Beginning at Beckwith and Grayson's most northeastwardly corner adjoining Shepherdsville and running with their line North 79° West 40 poles to a stake, thence with Simmons line North 6 1/2° East 40 poles to a stake, thence South 79° East 40 poles to a stake in Halbert's line, thence South 6 1/2° West 40 poles to the beginning, supposed to contain 10 acres of land be the same more or less, being in the same land which was conveyed to the said William Jones by Adam Shepard by deed, bearing date the 22nd day of November 1817 and duly recorded in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court, reference being thereto had will more fully appear, and to which land William Pope Jr. relinquished his claim.

To have and to hold the said land as described with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Jonathan Gore Jr. and his heirs &c to and for his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof. And the said William Jones and Anna his wife for themselves, their heirs &c do covenant and agree to and with the said Jonathan Gore Jr. and his heirs that the foregoing parcel of land and appurtenances they will and their heirs shall warrant and forever defend to them the said Jonathan Gore Jr. and his heirs &c from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said William Jones and Anna his wife have hereto set their hands and seals on the day and year above or within written.
