Jonathan Gore Jr. to Matthew Wilson - 10 Acres

On 22 Nov 1817, Adam Shepherd sold ten acres of ground adjacent to Shepherdsville to William Jones. This would later become part of the town. Jones would later sell the ground to Jonathan Gore Jr. on 23 May 1821. Gore next sold it to Matthew Wilson, as shown below. Then in September 1837, Wilson so this tract along with other land to John H. Baker.


Bullitt County Deed Book F, Pages 382-383

This indenture made 2nd November 1827 between Jonathan Gore Jr. and Mariah, his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part, and Matthew Willson of the same county and state of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Jonathan Gore Jr. and Mariah his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Matthew Willson, his heirs &c, a certain lot of land situate lying and being in said county near to the town of Shepherdsville containing 10 acres and bounded as follows, to wit.

Beginning at Beckwith and Grayson's most northeastwardly corner adjoining Shepherdsville and running with their line North 79° West 40 poles to a stake, thence with Richard P. Simmons' line,said Simmons having purchased of the sheriff of Bullitt County, North 6 1/2° East 40 poles to a stake, thence South 79° East 40 poles to a stake in Halbert's line, thence South 6 1/2° West 40 poles to the beginning, being the same land which wasa conveyed by Adam Shepherd to William Jones, and by the said Jones to the said Gore Jr., reference being had to the deeds duly recorded in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court will more fully appear.

To have and to hold the said parcel of land and appurtenances unto him the said Matthew Willson, his heirs &c to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Jonathan Gore Jr. and Mariah his wife for themselves, their heirs &c do covenant and agree with to and with the said Matthew Willson, his heirs &c that they will and their heirs shall warrant and defend to the said Matthew Willson, his heirs &c the said parcel of land from themselves and all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same with the exception nevertheless of the dower of Anna Jones, wife of the said William Jones against which claim for dower in the said parcel of land and appurtenances they the said Gore Jr. and wife do not defend. In testimony whereof the said Jonathan Gore Jr. and Mariah his wife do hereto set their hands and seals on the day and year before written.
