On 22 Nov 1817, Adam Shepherd sold ten acres of ground adjacent to Shepherdsville to William Jones. This would later become part of the town. Jones would later sell the ground to Jonathan Gore Jr.

This indenture made this 22nd day of November 1817 between Adam Shepherd of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and William Jones of the same county and state of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Adam Shepherd for and in consideration of the sum of $25 current money in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath patented, bargained and sold and by these presents doth patent, bargain sell and convey unto the said William Jones and his heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the said county of Bullitt and adjoining the lands of Beckwith and Grayson, James Halbert and the lands lately sold by the sheriff of said county to Richard P. Simmons.
Beginning at Grayson and Beckwith's most northeastwardly corner adjoining Shepherdsville and running with their line N 79° W 40 poles to a stake, thence with Simmons' line N 6 1/2° E 40 poles to a stake, thence S 79° E 40 poles to a stake in Halbert's line, thence with his line S 6 1/2° W 40 poles to the beginning, supposed to contain ten acres, be the same more or less.
To have and to hold the said land as described together with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said William Jones and his heirs forever to and for his and their only proper use benefit and behoof. And the said Adam Shepherd doth covenant and agree to and with the said William Jones and his heirs that this .. parcel of land and its appurtanences he will and his heirs will forever warrant and defend to him the said William Jones and his heirs and assigns against the claim of all and every other person or persons whatever. In witness whereof the said Adam Shepherd hath set his hand and seal the day and year aforesaid. (signed) Adam Shepherd
