George F. Pope to John J. Thomasson - Half of Shepherdsville Lot 38

In February 1827, Benjamin Stansbury deeded the western half of Shepherdsville lot 38 to George F. Pope, as trustee for Pope's sons: William F. Pope, John D. Pope, and Worden Pope Jr. Pope would later sell the lot to John J. Thomasson.

Whereas Benjamin Stansbury did on the 21st day of February 1827 convey to George F. Pope in trust for William F. Pope, John D. Pope and Worden Pope Jr., children of the said George F. Pope, the western half of a certain lot in Shepherdsville known by the number in the number plan of said town by 38, which half of said lot is bounded as follows, to-wit.

Beginning at the northwest corner of said lot, thence with a line of Second Street eastwardly the course of said street to the center of said lot, thence through the center of said lot the course of the town lots 198'11" to the back line of said lot, thence with said line to the southwest corner of said lot, thence with a line of said lot to the beginning.

By which conveyance the said George F. Pope , trustee, was authorized if he thought it more beneficial the the said William F. Pope, John D. Pope and Worden Pope Jr. to sell and convey the same, which deed is of record in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court; and the said George F. Pope believing it would be of advantage to the said William F. Pope, John D. Pope and Worden Pope Jr., has sold the said part of said lot to John J. Thomason.

This indenture therefore made this 4th day of October 1828 between the said George F. Pope, trustee as aforesaid, of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and the said John J. Thomasson of the same county and state of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said George F. Pope, trustee as aforesaid, and the sum of $50 current money of the United States to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said John J. Thomasson, his heirs &c the aforesaid described part of lot No. 38 in the said town of Shepherdsville.

To have and to hold the said part of said lot with all the appurtenances thereto belonging unto the said John J. Thomasson, his heirs &c free and clear of and from all right and title of dower or other encumbrances, and to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof. And the said George F. Pope covenants and agrees to and with the said John J. Thomasson, his heirs &c that he will and the said William F. Pope, John D. Pope and Worden Pope Jr. shall warrant and forever defend the said part of said lot to him the said John J. Thomasson, his heirs &c from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said George F. Pope, trustee as aforesaid, hereto sets his hand and seal on the day and year within written.
