J. B. English to Alexander Moore and W. C. Piatt - 230 & 24 Acres

On 1 Sep 1870, J. B. English sold his undivided portion of a 230 acre tract and a 24 acre on the south side of Salt River to his partners Alexander Moore and W. C. Piatt, as shown below.

Bullitt County Deed Book S, Pages 127-129

This indenture made and entered into this 1st day of September 1870, by and between J. B. English and Margaret his wife of the County of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the first part, and Alexander Moore of Lexington, Kentucky and W. C. Piatt of Louisville, Kentucky of the second part.

Witnesseth that the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of $8460 to be paid as hereinafter stipulated, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said parties of the second part two undivided third parts of the following tracts of land situated, lying and being in Bullitt County, Kentucky, and bounded as follows, to wit.

Beginning at an elm on the bank of Salt River, original corner between Wilhite Carpenter and F. Maraman, thence down Salt River N 88° W 10 poles to a stone on the bank of Salt River, thence S 38 1/2° W 160 poles to a stone, thence S 60°50' W 32 3/4 poles to a stone on the west side of a road, agreed corner between Carpenter and Moore, thence with the agreed division line between Carpenter and Moore S 71° 171 1/2 poles to a stone, agreed division corner between Carpenter and Moore, thence with their division line N 55 2/3° E 132 poles to a stake in the Big Road, thence S 50 3/4° E 6 poles to a stake in branch on the Big Road leading to Bardstown, thence N 85° E 34 poles 11 links to a stake in same road, thence N 8 1/2° W 79 poles to Salt River, thence down the same with its meanders 183 poles to the beginning, containing 230 acres more or less.

This tract was conveyed to the party of the first part by W. Carpenter, reference is had to his deed on Deed Book P. page 587, Bullitt County Court office.

Another tract having following bounday, to wit, Beginning at a stake on the north side of the county road near a hickory tree in Foreman's line, thence North 7 1/4° West 76 poles to two willows on the bank of Salt River, thence down the river with its meanders to J. B. English's corner, thence with said English's line to the county road, thence up said county road to the beginning, containing 24 acres, 3 roods and 9 poles.

This tract conveyed to the said party of the first part by H. O. Maraman, reference to his deed, Deed Book Q, page 501, Bullitt County Court.

The payments for said land are to be made as follows: $4230 thereof to be paid by Alexander Moore of the second part; $2260 thereof he assumes the payment of that portion of the first parties' notes to William Maraman, this day executed by the parties hereto. The balance of $1970 to be paid one day after date and for which sum his note is this day executed to the said party of the first part. The remaining $4230 is to be paid by the said W. C. Piatt and for which some he has this day executed his note payable one day after date, a lien retained to secure the assumptions to Maraman and the notes.

To have and to hold the 2/3 of the land here sold onto the said parties of the second part and their heirs forever by this deed of fee simple with general warranty. In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereto set their hands and seals. (signed) J. B. English, M. English
