In 1826, via a Circuit Court decree, John W. Beckwith, Weir Tilford and William Jones as commissioners deeded to George W. Jenkins parts of two Shepherdsville lots (#39 & #40) from the estate of James Brown deceased. This was following a court suit brought by Elizabeth Griffin against the Brown estate.
Jenkins sold the lot to Henry I. Craycraft on 5 Sep 1844, and Craycraft sold it to Samuel N. Smith on 23 Apr 1849, as shown below.

This indenture made this 23rd of April 1849 between Henry I. Craycraft and Eliza B. Craycraft of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky of one part, and Samuel N. Smith of the same place of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said H. I. Craycraft for and in consideration of the sum of $600 in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, they said H. I. Craycraft and wife have sold and conveyed, and by these presents do sell and convey unto the said Samuel N. Smith and to his heirs and assigns forever the following lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Ky., on Main Street, the same whereon said Smith now lives, and the same lot and appurtenances conveyed to Craycraft by George W. Jenkins, and being parts of lots No. 39 and No. 40 in the new plan of said town, fronting Main Street 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches and extending back 198 feet, 11 inches to School Alley, together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining.
To have and to hold the said lot and appurtenances here sold unto him the said Samuel N. Smith and to his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Henry I. Craycraft covenants and agrees to and with the said Samuel N. Smith, his heirs &c that he the said H. I. Craycraft will and his heirs &c shall forever warrant and defend the said parts of lots No. 39 and 40 here sold unto him the said Samuel N. Smith and to his heirs and assigns forever against the claims of all persons whatever by this deed in fee simple with general warranty. Witness the hands and seals of the grantors the date aforesaid.
